Pokahantas, a Native American and Dutch beauty, was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia…known as Bad Newz, VA. Growing up without her Dutch-descended father made it easy to take pride in her Native American heritage. It made her different from the other girls, but Pokahantas always knew she was special. From the young age of four, she was introduced to swimming and cheerleading; both of which she continued until high school. In addition, being the tomboy she was, Pokahantas partook in everything from backyard football with the boys to Tae Kwon Do. In high school, the “Indian Princess” blossomed and became known as a tease. She did not let that discourage her; in fact, she allowed it to motivate her. She became a member of the dance team, a gymnast, a vocalist in competition ensembles, a track and field team member, a field hockey player, the lead in a musical, a homecoming court winner, and crowned Miss Warwick 2001. She was also an Honor Roll student throughout all of her years in advanced placement classes, a National Honor Society student, and a participant in many school and community clubs and organizations. Earning an academic scholarship to the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, Pokahantas decided to continue with her physical talents. She landed a spot on UVA’s cheerleading squad and their Step Team. Not sure what life was holding for her, she dropped out of college in 2004 and became a model as well as a Flight Attendant. Five months down the road, Pokahantas’ journey would take her to Nashville, TN. Here she would get more in touch with her spirit and culture. After finding her spirit animal, the wolf, she packed her things and quickly moved to Chattanooga, TN. There, she realized her love for children and became an Exceptional Educational Assistant. Never being a quitter, Pokahantas continued with her education while working and modeling. Now, at the tender age of twenty-one, Pokahantas is ready to take on and conquer new challenges in her life. With the knowledge of her ancestors and her wolf by her side, nothing stands in the way of Pokahantas, “New World Princess!” Tags :
